Mia Maariel Meyer

Mia Maariel Meyer, whose parents are half German half Finish, was born in 1981 in Braunschweig. She studied film and screenwriting in New York and London. She finished her studies with a Master of Arts in Filmmaking at the University of Goldsmiths in 2008. Back in Germany, she focused on documentary films and reportages. She won the Grimme Online Prize for the documentary formate 140 seconds in 2012. Her no budget film UPSTAIRS was made in 2014. The premiere was celebrated at the Hof International Film Festival 2015 where the film got an honorable mention. UP THE STAIRS was released in theaters in 2016.
