Cris Tapia Marchiori
Born in 1986, Argentine screenwriter and director passionate about raw, immersive storytelling.
His first feature, LA NOCHE MÁS FRÍA (THE COLDEST NIGHT, 2017), was met with critical acclaim and made him a filmmaker to watch.
His second film, the single-shot, real-time thriller GATILLERO (GUNMAN, 2025), pushed creative boundaries, making it one of the best regarded films of the year in Argentina. The film was selected by IFFR Rotterdam and more than 40 more festivals, earning more than 30 awards worldwide. GUNMAN was acquired by HBO and won Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Photography, Best Sound and Best Make Up at the Argentina Film Academy “Premios Sur”. And is currently nominated to 13 Argentine film critics “Condor de Plata” awards, including Best Picture.
Recently he finished LAS FLORES DE JULIA (JULIA’S FLOWERS, 2026), an Argentine-Chilean co-production starring Argentine transgender actress Mariana Genesio Peña on her breakthrough role and chilean actress Paulina García (Berlinale Silver Bear as Best Actress for Sebastian Lelio’s Gloria).
Beyond directing, Cris has worked extensively across Latin America as an assistant director, second unit director, and action sequence choreographer, contributing to projects in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, and Uruguay. His hands-on experience in the industry, from stunt work to intricate action choreography, has shaped his distinct approach to filmmaking.
