BUFO

Founded in 2007 by producers Misha JaariMark Lwoff and screenwriter Vesa Virtanen, Bufo has produced a number of films of which many have received international recognition. Based in Helsinki, the ambitious and thrill-seeking company concentrates on plot-driven and meaningful stories that can also entertain big audiences. Bufo’s films all share the elements of clear artistic vision, innovation and high quality.

Bufo has produced such films as Concrete Night (2013) by Pirjo HonkasaloThe Good Son (2011) by Zaida BergrothThe Interrogation (2010) by Jörn Donner and Akseli Tuomivaara’s first feature Korso (2014).

Bufo’s forthcoming titles include Armi Alive!, Academy Award Winner Jörn Donner‘s film about the founder of the iconic design company Marimekko, and short film Reunion by Iddo Soskolne and Janne Reinikainen, which will premiere at the 65th Berlinale.

Furthermore, Bufo has been involved in a number of European co-productions, such as the 3D stop-motion feature Lisa Limone directed by Mait Laas and produced together with the Estonian Nuku Film, and The Role of a Lifetime directed by Konstantin Lopushanskiy and produced together with the Russian Proline Film.
