GROZNY BLUES by Nicola Bellucci will be part of the section Eastern Block at dokumentART (Germany, Neubrandenburg, November 11-15).
The section Eastern Block focuses on new documentaries from and about Eastern and Central Europe. In the nineties the Chechnya conflict dominated the international headlines. Up until today many Chechens continue to seek asylum in Europe. In the media however, silence surrounds the Caucasus republic. Nicola Belucci’s Grozny Blues portrays modern day Chechnya – a country seemingly caught between its islamic present and a Soviet past.
