Marianna Kaat

Award-winning director and producer Marianna Kaat graduated from the St.Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy, Russia. 1986 – PhD. In 1998 she founded her own production company Baltic Film Production (BFP) based in Tallinn (Estonia). Since then she has produced and directed documentary serials and TV shows for different Estonian broadcasters, but her main professional  interest stays with the production of creative non-fiction films with the strong focus on East-European subjects. She directed several award winning feature documentaries, among them the latests are  A WORKING TITLE WUNDERKIND, PIT NO 8, THE LAST PAHNTOMS. As a  producer she worked with  world famous directors Vitaly Mansky (RODNYE (CLOSE RELATIONS) and Yury Khashchavatsky (Lobotomy , Kalinovsky Square).

In 2009 Marianna received International Trailblazer Award at Cannes MIPDOC. Marianna also teaches at Baltic Film, Media, Arts and Communication School of Tallinn University.
