Luong Dinh Dung
Director Luong Dinh Dung holds a Master of Arts degree from the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema.
His family drama feature film, Father and Son, received numerous prestigious awards at international film festivals, including Best Asian Film at the 36th Fajr International Film Festival (Iran) and Best Screenplay at the 20th Vietnam Film Festival. Notably, Father and Son was selected as Vietnam’s official entry for the 90th Academy Awards. The film was screened at prominent international festivals such as the 48th International Film Festival of India (GOA), the Bangkok Asian Film Festival, the Barcelona Asian Film Festival (Spain), and in nearly 30 countries including Canada, the United States, Italy, Iran, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, and India. His psychological crime film Drowsy City was nominated for Best International Film at the 2019 Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival. It was also screened at the 2019 Festival du Nouveau Cinéma (Canada) and nominated for the NETPAC Award at the 2020 Kolkata International Film Festival. In addition to his feature films, Luong Dinh Dung made his directorial debut while still a student at the Hanoi Academy of Cinema, with short films such as The Boatman, which won Best Short Film at the Tokyo Film Festival, and Red Happiness, which was officially selected for screening at Clermont-Ferrand — the world’s largest short film festival (France).
Beyond his success as a director, he has earned recognition on the international stage, serving as President of the Jury at the Greece International Film Festival and as a jury member at the Vietnam Film Festival 2021, the Hanoi International Film Festival, the Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival, and the 19th Pune International Film Festival (India).
