Dmitry Vasyukov

In the 1990s created, directed and hosted a TV show dedicated to fishing Dialogues about fishing. The TV show was broadcasted at Russian Main Federal Channel Russia for 5 years.
In 2004 started to shoot the TV project Happy people that was conceived in the previous year. In the beginning of 2007 4 series of 52 minutes each were finished. These documentary films described the year cycle of Taiga village Bakhta at the Yenissei river.
In 2008 films Happy people got an Award at Russian IFF for documentary films ArtDocFest and also got prestigious TV Nomination Laurel branch.
In 2010, with participation of famous German producer and director Werner Herzog, was created a 90-minutes International version of the documentary series that was released under title Happy People. A Year in the Taiga. This version was nominated at IFF in the USA, Italy, Japan and in other countries.
In 2012 the film was released in cinemas across Europe, and in 2013 in the USA.
In 2013 Discovery Channel purchased the rights, and the film was recently released by Discovery.
In 2013 Happy People project continued with a 2-series documentary Pomory.
In 2014 Vasiukov used crowdfunding for the third film of the project, Altai, which was first released as a 4-series documentary and later developed into a cinema version titled Another Life. The Russian Premiere was at the IFF Movement in Omsk.
